Hello again,

A lot has been going on over the last month or so but I’ve managed to get this one nice early 70’s African & Brazilian funk-psych mix together for ya. There are some really nice cookers in this mix that have been destroying me daily for the last couple months…I simply can’t stop cranking them on high-fi the second I get in the door after work..Music like this really makes me wish I could seriously dance. Oh, and there are some early James Brown tunes in here as well.

I  hit a pedestrian bulb-out a few weeks ago on my bicycle while biking at night. It was a bad wreck, one of the worst I’ve been in for sure, but somehow I walked away with only emotional scarring and a beat-up bike and helmet. I know these bulb-outs probably won’t disappear anytime soon but I decided to write a letter to the newspaper and they published it, so maybe city official folks will start rethinking these things before they put more in. This Missoula woman wasn’t as lucky as I was.

I’m heading outta town for a bit so I’ll see you in August.

Have a nice one, Collin

Hello,

The last few weeks in Missoula have seen a whole lot of rain and last wednesday, during my radio show,  was no exception. With that big window in the studio allowing the grey dark skies to look in at me I put together a sort of slower, folk-influenced set that seemed to fit the mood just about right. Here’s that.

Thanks for stopping in,

Collin

Townes Van Zandt “Rex’s Blues” from Live At the Old Quarter, Houston, Texas

Hi.

Seems like all I’ve wanted to listen to for the last few weeks is lo-fi garage rock, the more mood the better. This mix starts out with some of the cream of the crop for me. A lot of truly haunting songs from bands that have almost completely faded into obscurity, many of them only releasing a few 45’s in their day anyway.  I can’t tell you how many times I’ve listened to the song “My Girl” by The Vandals over the last week. After the spooky garage rock tunes we head into a short set of psych songs featuring The Autoharp, an incredible instrument with a beautifully eerie quality that was used by a number of psych-folk bands in the 60’s. Lastly, we round it out with a couple of folk tunes, including one by the Legendary Missoula artist JR Rummel. (thanks to VVR for the Mp3!). Hope you are well, collin

Hello,

I haven’t forgot about you. I have so many new discoveries to share and all I need to do is sit down and put them together.
